Our Carpentry Department can help you to...

  • Get your licence to work on sites (CSCS Card)
  • Get Working at Heights, Manual Handling & Emergency First Aid qualifications
  • Create frames, studwork and joists
  • Learn door lining and hanging
  • An NVQ L2 for trainees who prove themselves
  • No prior experience is necessary as full training is given

Our Programme

Our Level 1 course lasts 3 months. Level 2 is a further 3-month placement. Please read the ‘Length of Stay’ section on our Referrals page for more information.

Level 1 is about learning the basics of the trade and gaining work experience.

Level 2 is about Increasing your work experience and skill level.

By the end of Level 2, trainees will usually have had the opportunity to take tests and acquire:

  • CSCS
  • Driving Theory
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Manual handling
  • Working at Heights
  • Health & Safety
  • Abrasive Wheels (Grinders)

Examples of dept skills you can learn;

  • Producing a range of basic joints
  • Using and maintaining different hand tools
  • Using and maintaining power tools
  • Site skills
  • Frames
  • Studwork
  • Door lining
  • Door hanging
  • Helping design and create pieces

For trainees that prove themselves and for whom it is deemed appropriate, there may be opportunities to extend the placement and achieve a deeper level of work experience and skill.

Trainees might get the opportunity to work toward or achieve some of the following:

  • Driving practical
  • Carpentry NVQ
